Advantages Of Cheap Hosting Plans

By Logan Oulman

A lot of people may think that web hosting is a one-size-fits-all type of service without a lot of options. Contrary to popular belief, website hosting is not a one-size-fits-all type of service, and every host offers its clients many different options and types of services. In reality, this is the exact opposite of the case. There are many different types of hosting services available and each web host offers its customers any number of different options and bonuses within each package that they sell.

Package one - Shared Plans

A shared plan is one in which your server is hosted on a server that provides the hosting for a number of different sites and customers. Depending upon the host you might share server space with about ten other websites. Yet other hosts might place your account on a server with hundreds or thousands of other websites. The big advantage to shared hosting is the fact that is is so cost effective.

Servers that are Dedicated

A dedicated plan offers complete flexibility. A dedicated server is dedicated solely to your account, so you have the ability to select every script, software and even operating system that is on the server box. That's because with a dedicated plan, you are the only site on the server. This also alleviates the issue of how to divide resources among multiple customers.

VPS Plans

The downside of a dedicated server is the higher price. A virtual private server (VPS) gives you many of the benefits of a dedicated plan while remaining more cost effective. The box is partitioned in such a way that your website shares processing resources with the sites of other customers. However, the server is organized to provide an equal allocation of those resources for each client. This means that your site will not be affected by the resource needs of the other customers on the server.

* Reseller Hosting Packages

This is for people who wish to sell on a hosting service under their own name. Basically, the reseller is charged a monthly fee to use a certain chunk of space on a server. In turn, the reseller then divides this allocation into smaller units that can be sold to other customers. If you are not in the reseller business, this probably does not provide an adequate solution to your needs.

When looking for a web hosting company, the main considerations include cost, reliability, flexibility and support services. Make sure to choose a host based on what they can provide you rather than just focusing solely on the service that offers the best rate.
