Online Shopping Using Price Comparison Applications

By Adriana Noton

Online shopping is being made easier than ever in Canada and the United States. Downloadable free applications are now available that make comparing prices between internet stores and auction houses as easy as using a search engine. And, as anybody who has ever done price comparison on the Internet for, say, Dell computers, knows, such applications can really save time.

It does not matter if you are interested in Canadian online shopping or if you are interested in American. Trying to compare prices online is a tedious and time intensive exercise. Without using an application that automates comparison shopping, you are almost better off checking out the flyers that are delivered to your home mailbox, whether you want them or not.

There is no doubt that online is faster than real world if price is not an issue. Mass marketers have encouraged a no-comparison mindset by generally offering products cheaper online than in their stores. These merchandisers know that consumers typically compare online prices with real world prices. Now the time has come to compare the price of online products with the same online product at multiple outlets.

It is not uncommon to spend spend twenty to thirty minutes finding what we want online. Many of us do not have the time or the will to start the process all over again on a different site. This is why online comparison shopping needed a twenty-first century solution.

To find out what type of price comparison applications for shopping over the Internet are out there, simply enter the words Online Price Comparison in any search engine. As with any application downloaded to your computer or any computer, security must be a concern. For this reason, you must have a decent anti-virus program running when you download. The better applications will check auction sites as well as wholesalers and retailers.

With the Christmas shopping season starting, an online price comparison application can save you a good deal of money. These price comparison applications are designed to be used prior to visiting an online store. The application is dormant until a generic consumer product, such as computer, or a specific product brand, such as Dell computer, is entered in any search engine. At that time the application is triggered and a dialog box pops up asking if you wish to use the application to compile a price comparison.

Simply clicking Yes activates the comparison app. The application provider has arrangements with thousands of online retailers, online auction websites and online wholesale outlets. It immediately presents links to the specific product you are searching for. This allows you to learn the price for the product on dozens of sites without ever having to actually visit one.

It makes no difference whether you are doing Canadian online shopping. The app will return results from any site on the net that is in the language you are searching in. There is no charge to you because the provider of the app gets a commission from the seller for all products purchased using the application.
